The Ghana Association of Phonographic Industry (GAPI) represents the interest of individuals and companies who are in the business of publishing musical works.
Members of GAPI either acquire outright from, or enter a revenue sharing agreement with, the owner of the musical works.
Having concluded this arrangement, they finance the cost of studio recording, replication and marketing.

In effect, they provide the commercialization link for the music industry.
GAPI seeks to implement a plan of action for Digital Rights Management, E-Commerce and Commercial Promotion of Ghanaian Music.
This is in recognition of the fact that if there is going to be any economic development of the music industry, then it is essential that piracy is stemmed, international markets are exploited effectively and efficiently and adequate exposure of the Ghanaian music industry is undertaken.
